Zusammenfassung: | The article deals with the relation of the endings -ju and -i in the Instrumental case of singular i-type nouns in Ranjina’s Verse Collection. The ending -ju is used whenever the noun is not accompanied by a preposition and/or attribute indicating the Instrumental case, but there are also examples in which it is used when there is a preposition and/or attribute. The ending -i is frequent in examples where there is a preposition and/or attribute next to the noun, and it almost never occurs in examples without a preposition and/or attribute. The old Dubrovnik writers had significant influence on the formation of the standard Croatian language and it is therefore interesting to see how they use the said two endings in the Instrumental case of singular i-type nouns. |
