Proza de lagăr. De ce se scriu memoriile?

The Gulag theme is quite well represented in literatures, especially in Russian and Romanian, where people experienced the imprisonment due to political reasons. People wrote memories in different degrees of objectivity and fictionality, but the purpose is the same: to not forget the experience, the people and especially the cruelty of the totalitarian regime. From Solzhenitsyn to Nadezhda Mandelshtam and Yevgenia Ginzburg, from Varlam Shalamov and Yuri Dombrovsky there are several types of fictional writings depicting the imprisoned people and the system. Our study is trying to identify some of the types of prison literature as a literary genre, under the species of memoir, nonfiction or fiction.
