Zusammenfassung: | Voluntary Fire brigades were, aside from a short period in the middle of the 30s, the most commonplace and popular organizations in the Wieluń District in the interwar period. A significant fire risk caused by the presence of a number of wooden buildings resulted in the creation of new fire brigades, which tried to protect the citizens of said district from fires and fire hazards alike to the best of their ability. However, not all areas were characterized by a similar focus being put on the proper operation of fire brigades. A significant number of them had a limited capital, as well as had to face the necessity of investing in firefighting equipment. The development of such units was in many cases dependent on the support of locals and the engagement of firefighters themselves. |
