Živilės Šarakauskienės daktaro disertacijos „Mokinių psichologinė gerovė: struktūra ir sociodemografiniai bei asmenybiniai veiksniai

The author of the review argues that dissertation is very relevant and necessary in Lithuanian context, as unemployment, alcohol abuse, violation, and poverty are the most painful social problems which indicate low level of psychological wellbeing. It is stated that due to rational and creative selection and use of research methods and instruments dissertation author succeeded to review and analyse previous research results in the area of psychological wellbeing; to prepare comparative analysis of hedonistic and eudemonic approaches towards wellbeing; to determine the structure of schoolchildren psychological wellbeing; to assess the characteristics and differences of wellbeing in various sociodemographic groups of schoolchildren; to assess the relationship among specific domain of psychological wellbeing and sociodemographic and personality variables. Some limitations and questions for discussion related to the specificity of schoolchildren wellbeing problem in Lithuania are mentioned. Conclusions of dissertation are seen as applicable for school psychologists.
