Zusammenfassung:Over the past decades, the competition between countries has become more and more important, especially in the current context when the political, social and economic effects of globalization are substantially increasing. States of the world are in a continuous battle for power, influence, investors, and resources. Competitiveness increases the productivity of a country that brings prosperity for its citizens; therefore, increasing competitiveness is a solution for future development. The researchers' reaction was to create competitiveness indexes, tools for measuring and evaluating competitiveness. Using these tools, both public administration and the business community can identify strengths and weaknesses in making decisions that will take advantage of existing opportunities to develop and increase productivity. This study presents two such tools - the Global Competitiveness Index, created by the World Economic Forum and OECD Competition Assessment - and how they can help increase Romania's competitiveness.
