Zusammenfassung:This paper investigates the notion of culture in Kant's philosophy during the period of the formation of his Critiques. It starts with the hypothesis that culture is playing a key role in the solution of the problem of harmony between nature's causality and spontaneity of freedom. Through comparative analysis of definitions and the role of culture in the Critique of Judgement and thinking of history and culture in Kant's text On the idea of an universal history from 1784 this paper aims to indicate that central determinations of Kant's notion of culture should be understood regarding his thinking about history. In its result, this investigation offers an understanding of Kant's notion of culture (as human being's capability for purposes) as the basis of historical dynamics present in Kant's philosophical history, which implies bridging of the gap between notions of free will and it's phenomena in nature.
