Zusammenfassung: | The turn of the twenties century became the most crucial era in the paradigm of the social and humanitarian research. The intensive globalization and integration processes have put lots of problems on the spot: in the light of the changing present we are rethinking our past which is forming our future. It is hard to overestimate the role of translation in building and developing the world civilization. In different periods of the mankind’s evolution translation was stimulated by the interest towards the achievements of the mankind in different fields (religion, culture, science). Translator’s work has always been linked to the deep perception of the concepts in the source text, linguistic varieties of source and target languages, and this has contributed to the development of the national languages, religious and non-religious literature, and science. The history of the development of the Georgian language and culture is a vivid example of the significant pattern the society follows in its development: an abrupt shift of the sociopolitical paradigm is usually followed by the so called ‘translation boosts’ that stimulate rapid development of the science and culture. Religious centres, schools, and monasteries have obtained the function of translation centres, which have contributed to spread of the scientific knowledge. This process was took rather peculiar path in the Black Sea countries that have been in the focus of various imperial ambitions throughout history. Another reshaping of the political map of the region has had another impact and stimulated the establishment of the cross-cultural contacts and scientific links. |
