Zusammenfassung: | The most important element that stands at the basis of European construction are people, seen as subjects of all community actions. European citizenship gives them a series of rights which permit the exercise of the four fundamental freedoms: the free
movement of workers, services, goods and capitals. Socio-economic rights are essential for community social policy whose central core is to be found in questions relating to employment, industrial health, the social costs of industry, labour mobility and the role of social spending in social affairs. Besides the Treaties of Paris, Rome, Maastricht and Amsterdam, Lisabona Treaty both widened responsibilities and consolidated the fundamental rights and liberties, among which social and economic rights play an important role. The Treaty gurantees the application of the European Cart of Fundamental Rights and open the way of adhesion to the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. |
