This paper’s backbone is broad review of the Polish professional literature in the field of national defense and security. The aim is to gather in one article the most controversial questions concerning the defense policy discussed by the Polish experts and researchers in recent years. The review takes into account only those articles, which were published in scientific journals. It embraces several parts concerning the military reforms, armaments industry, international and internal security challenges, the secret services, as well as the national defense administration and policy with their civilian control. At the end, there is the list of all needed reforms mentioned in the broad literature.
