The Evolution of the Administrative and Territorial Organisation in the south of Oltenia (the 20th century)

In the process of evolution of the human settlements, the administrative-territorial organisation had an important role. In the present material there are approached the main stages in the administrative-territorial organisation of Băilești Plain, in the 20th century. The frequent administrative changes that took place during this entire century, on national level, can also be found in the network of settlements analysed here. In this period of time, in the administrative-territorial organisation of the settlements there were shaped several stages: the county divided into rural districts, the region divided into districts, the county divided into towns and communes.
