Piotr Szlagowski examined the issues of guilt, political responsibility, forgiveness and reconciliation based on The Tempest by William Shakespeare. According to the author, guilt always applies to an individual, whereas political responsibility is a group phenomenon. A true and lasting reconciliation between the victim and the victimizer may be possible in the new political order if the past was redeemed and there remains a memory of who was the victim and who was the victimizer.
