Ac tivitatea organizaţiei Partidului Naţional Ţărănesc din judeţul Hunedoara în perioada 1928-1938

We continue our study of the evolution of the party's National organization devoted to Peasant in Hunedoara County with the period 1928-1938. It is the period when the ruling party is called and in the first Government headed by Iuliu Maniu was part and Hunedoara, organization President, Aurel Vlad, as Minister of Cults and Arts. National-peasant governance period (1928-1931 and 1932-1933) overlaps unfortunately, with the great depression, which led to dissension with the party. They will culminate in the departure from the party of Alexander Vaida-Voevod, followed in this political adventure by Aurel Vlad. Hunedoara organization’s management was taken over by President P.N.Ţ. organizations in Transylvania and Banat, Mihai Popovici. Other national hunedoreni leaders, headed by Iustin Pop, remained in the party.With the rise of extremist movements that organize paramilitary formations, P.N.Ţ. decides the establishment of its own guards, self defence, which will be called „Iuliu Maniu” Guards or Bodyguards. On the February 1938 King Carol II set up a personal authoritarian regime, decreting the abolition of political parties and closure of the premises of all organizations, which meant the end of the Romanian inter-war Democrats.
