Zusammenfassung:This essay uses registers of births of the parish of Svetvinčenat for the eighteenth century to study the seasonal trends of conceptions and birth in the eighteenth century. The population of the parish of Svetvinčenat in the eighteenth century was mostly agricultural, while the centre of the parish, citadel of Svetvinčenat, was largely oriented towards crafts and trade. The overwhelmingly rural character of the parish and the church regulations by and large set the pace of life, as evident in the distribution of weddings and baptisms through the year. The largest number of baptisms in Svetvinčenat took place in the last three and the first three months of the year, with the maximum in January. The peak of conceptions overlapped with the spring rejuvenation and end of Lent. There is hardly any difference between Svetvinčenat and the surrounding villages. More conceptions in the first half of the year (maximum in April) and December, and more baptisms in the last three and first three months of the year were recorded in the parishes of Novigrad, Poreč and Pula too in the eighteenth century.
