Zusammenfassung:Two intra-Finnic cases of lexical borrowing are discussed, demonstrating that (1) the semantically opaque initial component juss- of the compound word jusshein ’Nardus stricta’ originates from the Estonian word juus ’hair’, while Estonian has been the source language for the corresponding Ingrian, Votic, Finnish and Karelian equivalents; 2) the Estonian verb liisuma ’grow stale’ derives from the Southwestern Finnish dialect word pliisu ’watery; colourless’.
