ZIONISM AND GENDER AWARENESS: A CASE STUDY OF JEWISH WOMEN IN PRE-WAR ROMANIA

Zionism and Gender Awareness: A Case Study of Jewish Women in Pre-War Romania. One goal of the current study was to briefly examine the gender issue in Zionism, a topic connected to historical and social changes that took place in society in early modern times. The study makes references to the role that Jewish women had in the Eastern European society with a closer look on Romania. Additionally, the study focused on the relationship between gender and Zionism and the women’s issue within an ideology that was alleged predominantly male. Specifically, the article examined the presence of women’s voices in the Romanian Zionist press in an attempt to explore whether they were marginal or not.
