Zusammenfassung:The author, CDU member of the German Bundestag, appreciates Turkey’s function of a role model for other Islamic states. He calls for an enhanced participation of Turkey in CSDP structures. The EU should make better use of Turkey’s understanding and comprehensive approach in the region, with an intensified cooperation in EU and NATO structures. Kiesewetter is also in favor of a religious dialogue of the German churches with the Islamic community and of offering discussions on visa liberalization.
