Zusammenfassung:The notion of identity, transversal, has always occupied a place of predilection in each of the stages marking out African literature of French expression. The authors of this literature, like S.L. Tansi (1979), continue to place at the center of verbal interactions this concept which, in more than one way, is representative of other discourse (Authier, 1999). For P. Charaudeau (2009), any speech is expressive of the social and discursive identity of the person speaking, of their right or legitimacy to do so. Still in the sense of the expression of identity, the concept of linguistic (auto)biography is in more than one way a representative element. In reported speech, “we only speak through the words or what has already been said by others”. A.J. Anoh, (2014). However, this approach is at odds with the other discourse of certain characters including Kapahacheu and Monsieur l’Abbé in “La Vie et demie” (1979) by S.L. Tansi, at certain moments. The encounter between their culture of origin, which is reflected in their reported words and the reported words of other characters who allude to them, and their adopted culture, would show the utopian character of the cultural exchange. Our study will attempt to demonstrate how, through reported speech, (auto) biography is expressed. In doing so, in light of the work of Ermofili Kalamakidou et alii. on “Language autobiography: a training tool for language teachers. The case of the Erasmus IRIS project”. The question of identities will be examined on the basis of research by P. Charaudeau (2009) on enunciation and the especially social and discursive identity of the speaking subject. It emerges that these identities, sometimes blurred, sometimes mismatched, make intercultural fertilization impossible. This study aimed to show how the linguistic autobiography expressed is the antithesis of the intercultural dialogue in “La Vie et demie”.
