Zusammenfassung:This article analyzes a fragment of the play “No exit” (1944) by Jean-Paul Sartre. The main subject of this text focuses on the question of gazing into the eyes of the Other as a continuously repeated act not only for the purpose of self-knowledge, but also for the purpose of reaffirming a potential existence in hell. The aim of this play’s segment is to serve as an example through which to introduce the theory of existentialism using Plato’s ideas of looking into the eyes of the Other in the dialogue “Alcibiades”.
