Zusammenfassung:A rational approach to modern civilian control of the security sector is a very important issue for achieving the well-being of people in our society. Bearing this in mind, the Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, made up of elected representatives of the people, would have to cooperate very closely with the government, security authorities, and services. The Assembly is responsible for establishing legal frameworks, regulating budget funds, and overseeing the work of the entire security sector. The execution of the aforementioned powers would have to be done in accordance with the principles of mutual trust and public dialogue. In addition to the Assembly, the Protector of Citizens (Ombudsman) and the independent media should help citizens and their political representatives with timely and accurate reporting. Considering the importance of the security sector not only in Europe but also in the wider international community, every country should strive to legally regulate this specific area. In this regard, the authors of this work also strive to bring certain knowledge and professional experiences closer to a wider readership to point out the importance of the system and principles of modern civilian control of the security sector.
