Zusammenfassung: | This article stresses the importance, for both translation teachers and professionals, of transmitting and acquiring the appropriate metalanguage, in order to nourish their practice by establishing the necessary reflexive distance that can help them analyze and justify their translation solutions and choices. It also describes the participatory approach based on “active usage-based term dissemination” adopted in a research project that led to the elaboration of an open-access terminology database dedicated to translation studies. The trilingual database reflects the dialogical and dynamic dimension of translation studies’ metalanguage. It is meant to be representative, didactic and consensual; a real challenge when dealing with Arabic alongside French and English, and a “poly-discipline”, as Gambier characterizes translation studies. |
