In the years immediately before the outbreak of the Second World War and dur- ing its initial phase, General Maurice Gamelin was one of a few personalities exerting a par- ticular influence on the course of events. This also applied to France’s political-military rela- tions with its Polish ally, which were particularly important for Poland. The proposed text is an attempt at a comprehensive analysis of this issue.
