The article explains the understanding of the term “management” developed based on management science, as well as characterizes the “management process” present in social sciences. The author discusses the process of managing a class team by the teacher specifying the conditions con- tributing to the effectiveness of didactic and educational work. Contemporary approaches to school leadership are discussed. In addition, educational leadership is presented as a process that includes the teaching process and the learning process. To illustrate the discussed issue a statement made by a Warsaw secondary school Headmaster was quoted.
