Zusammenfassung:The works of Dejan Despic (1930), inspired by Dubrovnik: Jadranski soneti op. 17 (1951-1954), Dubrovacki divertimento op. 18 (1952) and Dubrovacki kanconijer op. 96 (1989), reveal, in addition to their common theme, an additional important relationship. They are incited and, in an essential way, mediated by poetry: either by the verses of Jovan Ducic (1871-1943), poet of Parnassus and Serbian symbolism, or by Ragusan Petrarchist poetry. However, these compositions are not only the result of inspiration from poetry about Dubrovnik, but also from a deeper spiritual conditioning: from the poetic inspiration of the composer himself by Dubrovnik. It is the poetic feeling of the world, as a constant of Dejan Despic's creative vision, which comes from this particular inspiration. This Ragusan world of the composer is the classical world in a universal meaning of the concept, according to the very nature of the environment evoked. However, this does not imply a stylistic monochromy of the compositions considered. On the contrary, the musical perspectives of impressionism, neoclassicism, even neo-rennaissance, vary this general stylistic framework, while marking the distinct features of a very individualized compositional poetics.
