This paper is considering the translation process of the doctoral thesis Il ‘teologo’ del vescovo e della Chiesa Romena Unita as an opportunity to reflect upon the way a translation might reveal the research method used by the historian. The author being a Jesuit, the Ignatian principle of praesupponendum is thought to be at the basis of the research method.
