Zusammenfassung:The article deals with a special greetings letters received by Pope Pius IX on the jubilee of the 50th anniversary of his episcopal ordination from Polish exiles to Russia and Siberia. Such ceremonial letters are called addresses (It. indirizzi). The main celebrations of the jubilee were in Rome on June 3, 1877. Delegations and pilgrimages of Catholics from various countries came to Rome in May and June. A group of about 600 Polish pilgrims arrived, too. It was the first Polish national pilgrimage. Poles came mainly from two areas, the Austrian and the Prussian Partitions. A few pilgrims came from the Russian Partition, too. Poles in exile in European Russia and Siberia were represented by one person. At the meeting of Pius IX with the Poles on June 6, 1877, the pope received many gifts from the pilgrims; he was also given indirizzi from the Polish population of the Austrian and Prussian partitions. One of the former deportees, Reverend Justyn Mielechowicz, also handed over an indirizzo from Poles in exile. The article presents issues related to the message of the indirizzo (in Latin, handwritten and printed versions) and its Polish translation, and the circumstances in which this indirizzo was created. Its content is analysed in detail.
