Zusammenfassung:Advances in technology and the development of transportation have determined profound changes in society and the collective mind, significantly changing the social psychology. We live in a global society where the Other (as a general rule) is no longer a source of anxiety, but a beneficial source of Self-development, the Other constituting a point of reference for a self-reflective approach to self-knowledge. In this new psycho-social landscape, the differences captured through the experience of the ‘Other’ lifestyle can provide rich material for the humorist’s keen eye. This is the subject of our analysis, as such a humorist’s discourse deals with the theme of cultural and linguistic confrontations; we therefore propose to carry out a discursive analysis in which interculturality and interlingualism become sources of humor, the objects of a communication that does not separate, but unites two languages, two cultures, two civilizations - American society, the New World, and French society, the illustrious representative of Europe. We will therefore examine the mechanisms, techniques, and discourse triggers, of producing the perlocutionary effect of this type of discourse, namely, to make people laugh.
