Throughout his work, Nicolae Iorga can be considered a true father of Romanian military history. Contemporaneous with the politico-military events in which the Romanian army was engaged, the famous historian was also an authentic war reporter. Present on the Bulgarian theatre of operations in the summer of 1913, having influence over the military-political leadership of the Great War, a close follower of the course of confrontations, Iorga admired, when appropriate, the actions of military commanders and, when disappointed, he harshly judged those who erred, grieving the heroic fall of some. I identified the “portraits” of generals like Averescu, Prezan, Christescu, Grigorescu, Lambru, Dragalina, Praporgescu, Socec, Burghele, Mustață and others. Painted, according to their deeds, by the most prolific historian of the Romanian nation.
