Zusammenfassung: | Electronic Visualisation and the Arts (EVA 2009) - Graeme Earl, Gareth Beale, Jassim Happa, Mark Williams, Glen Turley, Kirk Martinez and Alan Chalmers - This paper describes an ongoing project to digitally record, reconstruct and repaint a 2000-year-old painted Roman statue from Herculaneum, Italy. The paper considers the archaeological potential for extremely detailed laser scanning and digital recreation of Roman statuary, and visualisation within a physically accurate context. It focuses on the archaeological significance of the emerging technologies employed and their potential to illuminate our understanding of concepts such as Roman aesthetics and the impact of spatial context on perception of statues. - Our website uses cookies to help improve your experience.
