Zusammenfassung:A variety of topics are discussed with regard to the application of dither to a digital audio system. Basic schemes are outlined and suitable types of dither noise are considered. Graphs are presented for analog dither of rectangular and Gaussian probability density functions which illustrate linearization of the quantizer staircase, noise modulation, and total noise. Digital dither is introduced, and it is urged that proper redithering ought to be applied whenever the audio signal is digitally manipulated.
