Eastern water skinks (Eulamprus quoyii) life-history data

This dataset is compiled from a series of laboratory observations and capture studies of Eastern water skinks (Eulamprus quoyii). It provides a variety of details measured for individuals collected from the Sydney area, and individuals collected from the Townsville area. Data on size (mass and length) of offspring comes from the offspring of females incubated at the given temperatures for the entirety of their gestation period. Growth rate at birth is for offspring held under the Townsville warm conditions. Life span is estimated from skeletrochonology conducted on about 10 individuals per population. Sample sizes to produce these summaries is based on twenty-three females collected from areas in and around Sydney, New South Wales, (nine from Oxford Falls, 338449S 1518149E and 14 from Flat Rock Creek, 348139S 1508559E). 26 females were collected in the vicinity of Townsville, Queensland (16 from North Creek, 198309S 1468479E, and 10 from Hencamp Creek, 198019S 1468159E). The early gestational status of females at the time of collection in each of these populations was confirmed by the presence of a blood-spot on ovulated follicles (embryo stages 4-12; Dufaure and Hubert 1961) of two or three females per population. | Provider's Access Rights: Open: free access under license
