Zusammenfassung:Data Creation AusPlots Rangelands Protocols - Soil characterisation to 1 m+: Soil characterisation to 1 m+ Soil samples | Credit We at TERN acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians throughout Australia, New Zealand and all nations. We honour their profound connections to land, water, biodiversity and culture and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. TERN is supported by the Australian Government through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy, NCRIS. | Purpose Soil profile samples provide information about the chemical and physical composition of the soil, necessary to quantify parameters such as carbon, nutrient and water content. These measurements will give an initial characterisation of the variability in soil characteristics across Australian rangelands, alleviating the paucity of soil data information of this important ecosystem. | Progress Code: onGoing | Maintenance and Update Frequency: biannually | This dataset lists soil profile observations described in Rangeland sites across Australia by the TERN Surveillance Monitoring team, using standardised AusPlots methodologies. Soil profile samples are observed and collected at each site as part of the AusPlots Soil and Landscapes methods. For each soil profile sampled, soil horizon's colour, electrical conductivity, effervescence, ped characteristics, pH, texture and coarse fragments characteristics are described as part of the Ausplots Soil characterisation to 1 m+ method. Soil specimens for the soil horizons are also collected for preservation (see AusPlots Soil characterisation and Soil samples method below). | Provider's Access Rights: unclassified
