Suboptimal Damped Periodic Cruise Trajectories for Hypersonic Flight

An initial study of damped periodic flight trajectories that achieve optimal fuel savings for hypersonic flight is investigated. The aerodynamic characteristics of hypersonic lifting bodies including scramjet propulsion are used to achieve enhanced fuel savings compared with steady-state cruise.
