Zusammenfassung:The motion of solid particles suspended in the gas flow through turbomachines is affected by their restitution characteristics after surface impacts. The main objective of this work is to investigate whether the target material properties have an effect on the rebound characteristics of impacting particles. The experimental data obtained by the LODV system for the collision phenomenon is used to determine the restitution ratios as a function of the incidence angle. The tests were performed on typical turbomachinery materials such as 2024 aluminum, 6Al-4V titanium, AM 355 steel, and RENE 41 with a constant incoming flow velocity of 300 ft/s at different impact angles and fixed particle size distribution (mean diameter of 150 microns). The restitution parameters are found to be significantly influenced by the target material. (Author)
