Zusammenfassung:The authors reply to a comment by Burnley and Culick (1999) on their paper (Wicker et al., 1996) concerning triggered instabilities in rocket motors. Briefly, the present authors state that (1) applying the method of time averaging would have a significant effect on the qualitative behavior of the system, but that results are then explicitly cited that indicate this proposition is erroneous, and (2) results are cited that suggest that the pulse-triggered behavior found using the two-mode approximation is merely an artifact of that approximation and is not physical.
