Zusammenfassung:This paper describes a framework of constraint propagation that supports the least-commitment strategy of design. This is implemented in an object-oriented IC design environment. The resulting system incrementally propagates design characteristics whenever they become available, and checks for design specification violations. By managing the interaction among bottom-up characteristics and top-down specifications, constraint propagation can be a powerful aid in IC design.
