Zusammenfassung: | In 2002, the Russian pianist Grigory Sokolov agreed to be film during his recital at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris: a rare event that could only be recorded by Bruno Monsaingeon, and that would not happen again for the next 10 years ... Still completely unknown in Western Europe in the eighties, the pianist Grigory Sokolov was then a rising star from Russia. Born in Petrograd (St. Petersburg's name in the years of the Soviet Union) in 1950, Grigory Sokolov won the 1st prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of sixteen & gt; this year is was presided over by Emil Gilels. With Sokolov, we discover a unique, powerful and highly characteristic world of sound. One may or may not like it, as in all times, Glenn Gould had his fans and his critics. The master allowed Bruno Monsaingeon and his film crew to recording his performance on an evening of November 2002, at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. In minimalist lighting it amplifies the mystery surrounding Sokolov. He gives a recital of works by Beethoven (Sonatas No. 9, 10 and 15), Komitas (six dances inspired by the Armenian folk music) and Prokofiev (Sonata No. 7), with many encores (Chopin, Couperin, Bach).
