Based on extensive original research, the book argues that a key factor was the nature and behaviour of local elites, with those in Kharkiv having diffuse ties to the centre and therefore being more capable of adapting to sudden, profound regime change at the centre, whereas the elites in the Donets'k region had much more concentrated ties to the centre, were dependent on one network, and therefore were much less able to cope with change. The book thereby demonstrates how crucial for Ukraine are patronal politics, patronage networks, and informal centre-region relations, and that it was these local political circumstances, rather than Russia, which brought about the conflict | |

The book thereby demonstrates how crucial for Ukraine are patronal politics, patronage networks, and informal centre-region relations, and that it was these local political circumstances, rather than Russia, which brought about the conflict Geschichte 2002-2014 gnd rswk-swf Patronage (DE-588)4044925-7 gnd rswk-swf Russisch-Ukrainischer Krieg (DE-588)106969780X gnd rswk-swf Elite (DE-588)4014457-4 gnd rswk-swf Regionalkultur (DE-588)4177427-9 gnd rswk-swf Regionale Identität (DE-588)4275671-6 gnd rswk-swf Ukraine (DE-588)4061496-7 gnd rswk-swf Charkiw (DE-588)4009782-1 gnd rswk-swf Donezbecken (DE-588)4619838-6 gnd rswk-swf Ukraine Conflict, 2014- / Causes Regionalism / Ukraine Donets Basin (Ukraine and Russia) / Politics and government / 21st century Kharkiv (Ukraine) / History / 21st century Ukraine / Politics and government / 21st century Ukraine / History / Euromaidan Protests, 2013-2014 (DE-588)4113937-9 Hochschulschrift gnd-content Ukraine (DE-588)4061496-7 g Charkiw (DE-588)4009782-1 g Regionale Identität (DE-588)4275671-6 s Regionalkultur (DE-588)4177427-9 s DE-604 Donezbecken (DE-588)4619838-6 g Russisch-Ukrainischer Krieg (DE-588)106969780X s Elite (DE-588)4014457-4 s Patronage (DE-588)4044925-7 s Geschichte 2002-2014 z Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-1-03-210114-9 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 978-1-03-210120-0 BASEES-Routledge series on Russian and East European studies 143 (DE-604)BV041152377 143 https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/9781003213710 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
