The essavs analyse text, script and illumination, as well as marks left bv each readers, transmission histories and evidence that reveals the movement of books from their places of origin through the centuries. At the heart of all these essavs are the makers, scribes and medieval readers oi these manuscripts, whose work, as revealed here, continues to inspire insights into the intellectual and cultural networks that connected the AngloSaxon kingdoms to their neighbours.
