Following the career and routine crossovers of runaway friars, the book offers vivid insights into the late medieval culture of violence, honour, emotions, learning and lay-clerical interactions. The story plays itself out in the large composite state of the Kingdom of Hungary and Croatia, which collapses under the Ottomans' sword in front of the readers' eyes. The bottom-up approach of the Christian-Muslim military conflict renders visible the rationalities of those commoners who voluntarily crossed the religious boundary, while the multi-tiered story convincingly drives home the argument that the motor of social and religious change was lay society rather than the clergy in this turbulent age | |

The bottom-up approach of the Christian-Muslim military conflict renders visible the rationalities of those commoners who voluntarily crossed the religious boundary, while the multi-tiered story convincingly drives home the argument that the motor of social and religious change was lay society rather than the clergy in this turbulent age</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="610" ind1="2" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Apostolische Pönitentiarie</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4335804-4</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="648" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Geschichte 1450-1550</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Soziale Norm</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4132883-8</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="650" ind1="0" ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Rechtsstreit</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4139832-4</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Kroatien</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4073841-3</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="651" ind1=" " ind2="7"><subfield code="a">Ungarn</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4078541-5</subfield><subfield code="2">gnd</subfield><subfield code="9">rswk-swf</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Ungarn</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4078541-5</subfield><subfield code="D">g</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="1"><subfield code="a">Kroatien</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4073841-3</subfield><subfield code="D">g</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="2"><subfield code="a">Apostolische Pönitentiarie</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4335804-4</subfield><subfield code="D">b</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="3"><subfield code="a">Rechtsstreit</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4139832-4</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="4"><subfield code="a">Soziale Norm</subfield><subfield code="0">(DE-588)4132883-8</subfield><subfield code="D">s</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2="5"><subfield code="a">Geschichte 1450-1550</subfield><subfield code="A">z</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="689" ind1="0" ind2=" "><subfield code="5">DE-604</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="776" ind1="0" ind2="8"><subfield code="i">Erscheint auch als</subfield><subfield code="n">Online-Ausgabe, e-book</subfield><subfield code="z">978-90-04-36126-3</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="830" ind1=" " ind2="0"><subfield code="a">Studies in medieval and reformation traditions</subfield><subfield code="v">volume 213</subfield><subfield code="w">(DE-604)BV019396755</subfield><subfield code="9">213</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="u">https://www.recensio.net/r/e3e65195032a4fd9aaeaffd27ce17b3f</subfield><subfield code="y">rezensiert in: Quellen und Forschungen aus italienischen Archiven und Bibliotheken, 101 (2021), S. 746-747</subfield><subfield code="3">Rezension</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="u">https://www.recensio.net/r/18fdabb886564364a1d43940d14ae0f3</subfield><subfield code="y">rezensiert in: Mitteilungen des Instituts für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung, 127 (2019), 2, S. 481-483</subfield><subfield code="3">Rezension</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="u">https://www.recensio.net/r/e0e3593c61ca4b0ca5ce2db80b54b416</subfield><subfield code="y">rezensiert in: Zeitschrift für Historische Forschung (ZHF), 47 (2020), 4, S. 705-707</subfield><subfield code="3">Rezension</subfield></datafield><datafield tag="856" ind1="4" ind2="2"><subfield code="m">Digitalisierung BSB München - Following the career and routine crossovers of runaway friars, the book offers vivid insights into the late medieval culture of violence, honour, emotions, learning and lay-clerical interactions. The story plays itself out in the large composite state of the Kingdom of Hungary and Croatia, which collapses under the Ottomans' sword in front of the readers' eyes.
