He explores how this 'mobilization' of the artwork is brought into play in art documentaries and artist biopics, as well as in feature films containing key scenes situated in museums. The tension between stasis and movement is also discussed in relation to modernist cinema, which often includes tableaux vivants combining pictorial, sculptural and theatrical elements. This tension also marks the aesthetics of the film still, which have inspired prominent art photographers such as Cindy Sherman and Jeff Wall. Illustrated throughout, Jacobs' study of the presence of art in film, alongside the omnipresence of the filmic image in today's art museums, is an engaging work for students and scholars of film and art alike | ||

Illustrated throughout, Jacobs' study of the presence of art in film, alongside the omnipresence of the filmic image in today's art museums, is an engaging work for students and scholars of film and art alike Vertigo Film 1958 (DE-588)4535992-1 gnd rswk-swf Film Philosophie Motion pictures and the arts Art and motion pictures Motion pictures / Appreciation Motion pictures / Philosophy Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 gnd rswk-swf Film (DE-588)4017102-4 gnd rswk-swf Fotografie (DE-588)4045895-7 gnd rswk-swf Künstler Motiv (DE-588)4122247-7 gnd rswk-swf Biografischer Film (DE-588)4373947-7 gnd rswk-swf Museum Motiv (DE-588)4241819-7 gnd rswk-swf Lebendes Bild (DE-588)4167006-1 gnd rswk-swf Kunstwerk Motiv (DE-588)4272651-7 gnd rswk-swf Lebendes Bild (DE-588)4167006-1 s Film (DE-588)4017102-4 s Fotografie (DE-588)4045895-7 s 1\p DE-604 Kunst (DE-588)4114333-4 s 2\p DE-604 Museum Motiv (DE-588)4241819-7 s Vertigo Film 1958 (DE-588)4535992-1 u 3\p DE-604 Kunstwerk Motiv (DE-588)4272651-7 s 4\p DE-604 Künstler Motiv (DE-588)4122247-7 s Biografischer Film (DE-588)4373947-7 s 5\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-7486-4017-1 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-7486-6876-2 http://www.cambridge.org/core/product/identifier/9780748647033/type/BOOK Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 5\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
