520 | |a This collection of texts on the Sublime provides the historical context for the foundation and discussion of one of the most important aesthetic debates of the Enlightenment. The significance of the Sublime in the eighteenth century ranged across a number of fields - literary criticism, empirical psychology, political economy, connoisseurship, landscape design and aesthetics, painting and the fine arts, and moral philosophy - and has continued to animate aesthetic and theoretical debates to this day. However, the unavailability of many of the crucial texts of the founding tradition has resulted in a conception of the Sublime often limited to the definitions of its most famous theorist Edmund Burke. Andrew Ashfield and Peter de Bolla's anthology, which includes an introduction and notes to each entry, offers students and scholars ready access to a much deeper and more complex tradition of writings on the Sublime, many of them never before printed in modern editions | ||

Andrew Ashfield and Peter de Bolla's anthology, which includes an introduction and notes to each entry, offers students and scholars ready access to a much deeper and more complex tradition of writings on the Sublime, many of them never before printed in modern editions Geschichte 1700-1800 Geschichte 1700-1800 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte Sublime, The / History / 18th century Englisch (DE-588)4014777-0 gnd rswk-swf Ästhetizismus (DE-588)4000629-3 gnd rswk-swf Theorie (DE-588)4059787-8 gnd rswk-swf Essay (DE-588)4015553-5 gnd rswk-swf Ästhetik (DE-588)4000626-8 gnd rswk-swf Das Erhabene (DE-588)4148823-4 gnd rswk-swf Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4002214-6 Anthologie gnd-content 2\p (DE-588)4135952-5 Quelle gnd-content Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 g Ästhetik (DE-588)4000626-8 s Theorie (DE-588)4059787-8 s Das Erhabene (DE-588)4148823-4 s Geschichte 1700-1800 z 3\p DE-604 Englisch (DE-588)4014777-0 s Essay (DE-588)4015553-5 s 4\p DE-604 Ästhetizismus (DE-588)4000629-3 s 5\p DE-604 Ashfield, Andrew edt De Bolla, Peter 1957- edt Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-39545-8 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-39582-3 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511620409 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 5\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
