THE AUTHORS’ LATEST RESEARCH FINDINGS, BASED ON DIMENSIONAL ANALYSES, WELL-INSTRUMENTED FULL-SCALE FIELD TESTS, SYSTEMATIC COUPLED-CONSOLIDATION FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSES AND CENTRIFUGE TESTS ARE REPORTED.
