Zusammenfassung: | The present study examines the Holocene landscape evolution of the Mecklenburg Lake District under human influence. In addition to my own geomorphological, pedological and sedimentological investigations, geochronological and palaeoecological analyses by other authors complement the interdisciplinary spectrum of methods. Moreover, archaeological finds, archival sources and current measurements have been evaluated. The results provide new insights into the Holocene soil and relief development as well as (palaeo-) hydrological fluctuations of groundwater and lake levels. Furthermore, new aspects of regional settlement and land use history arise. For this comprehensive approach to landscape development a higher density of OSL dating data was available compared to previous studies in northern central Europe. A comparison with records and data in adjacent areas alows to verify data gathered in this study as well as allowing conclusions to be made about the postglacial landscape development of the entire young morainic area of NE Germany. This results in a new in-depth data basis for the discussion on the effect of natural/climatic and anthropogenic influences on the landscape structure. This is especially applicable with regards to hydrological changes associated with changes in the regional river network. For a qualitative weighting of the various factors over a long period of time the differentiation between anthropogenically unaffected periods (Late Glacial to Mid-Holocene) ...
