Zusammenfassung: | This collection consists of a culture summary and one book. The book, authored by Ralph Linton, is based on his field work conducted in 1926-1927 and sponsored by the Field Museum. Although Linton was only among the Tanala for two months, he spent about one year and a half traveling throughout Madagascar, and as a result presents data on various other tribes of the island in comparison with that on the Tanala. The work is presented as a standard ethnography, with sections on tribal identification, economy, social organization, government, religion, warfare, amusement, art, life cycle, folklore, and a brief history of tribal wars. The Tanala, also called Antanala, are a Malagasy speaking people living in southeastern Madagascar, an island nation located off the eastern coast of southern Africa |
