Peut-on parler aujourd hui d une langue normande
?
Doit-on
envisager davantage la pluralité des pratiques et, partant, des iden¬
tités
?
Est-ce concevable de proposer à la lecture sociale un dis¬
cours savant montrant la proximité typologique du normand, des
normands, avec la langue française, les langues françaises, cela,
sans perdre une crédibilité déjà fragile
?
Comment peut-on pen¬
ser à la fois la diversité du normand et son unité dans un contexte
sociopolitique où le rapport aux langues dites régionales est sans
cesse rapproché (en France) d un déni de nationalité ou de citoyen¬
neté
?
Est-ce ainsi raisonnable scientifiquement mais surtout accep¬
table socialement de faire valoir l existence de compétences lin¬
guistiques et langagières que des locuteurs auto-déclarés (et non
plus désignés comme jadis) revendiquent
?
Ce volume tente de répondre à ces questions en faisant écrire
non seulement des chercheurs mais encore des acteurs de terrain,
dans la mesure où, chacun sa façon, ils contribuent au dynamisme
de ce qui peu ou prou est nommé une langue
:
le normand.
Il est ainsi accessible autant aux spécialistes des langues qu à
tout Nonnand et Normande (sur les îles et sur le continent) que
la pratique de la langue intéresse.
