SUMMARY
Macedonia: roots and arguments is a selection of specific findings,
considerations and remarks on the Macedonian issue.
Relying on extensive resources from the fields of historic, cultural
and political studies, the author aims to turn the reader s attention to
presented facts and findings, which have not sufficiently been in the
focus of the public eye, as well as to deeper research their mutual
interrelations.
This work presents a chronology of arguments, based on facts from
the history of Macedonia and the Macedonians relevant for the
contemporary issue of the identity of the Macedonian, as a counter¬
argument for the denial and non-recognition of the historic name of the
country. Presented findings are based on the analysis of the roots for
thé
contemporary events, especially from the aspect of the interest of
the neighbours for the territory, which the Macedonians inhabit.
The analysis points out to the reasons for contemporary unwanted
events, which are connected to the great forces interests on the Balkan
Peninsula, with emphasis on its central part and the exit to the Aegean
Sea, followed since the time of the dissolution of the Turkish Empire;
then before and during the Balkan wars; in the period of World War I
up to the partition of Macedonia; during the World War II to the procla¬
mation of the state of the Macedonians on the Balkans. Events of con¬
temporary history follow on this chain

and the recognition of the Republic of Macedonia until the current ac¬
cession to the European Union and NATO.

sonalities included in the book, with short notes and quotes, as well as the
Diplomatic DATAMAR- an overview of the recognition of the Republic
of Macedonia by other states

states in the world have recognised
Macedonia under its constitutional name), the establishment of diplomatic
relations, as well as membership in international organisations.
