Systematic diagnosis is an important
component of the overall strategy of patient
management. Students entering clinical years
of dental training are required to learn and
use appropriate diagnostic techniques and
procedures scientifically, later in their dental
practice. The Textbook of Oral Diagnosis has
been designed to address most issues that are
essential in a learning environment.
The book has been presented in two sections.
The first section discusses fundamental
concepts of treatment planning
—
time-
tested method of diagnosis such as history-
taking and physical examination, referral
and different investigative tools, and
professional consultation.
The second section deals with different
investigative approaches that are available
to diagnosticians that help dental students
and clinicians to perform basic diagnostic
procedure in the clinic. It prepares the
students to be aware of the indications and
limitations of clinical laboratory tests and
prepares them with adequate knowledge to
interpret the test results.
Based on the undergraduate curriculum of
dental councils and universities, this volume
has contributions from experts in the field
from all over the world. The chapters are
presented in a lucid and sequential style, with
complimentary illustrations and diagrams.
The fourth and final title in the dental series,
this concise volume is targeted primarily at
undergraduate students of dentistry.
This book will be essential reading for dental
hygienists,
dental surgery assistants,
technicians, teachers of dentistry, dental
nurses, and all those preparing a career in
dental technology.

Khaimah Medical and Health Sciences
University in
Ras Al
Khaimah, UAE. He holds
the distinct honour of being one of the few
dental academics to be conferred Fellowships
from all four Royal Colleges based in the UK
and Ireland.
