Summary
SUMMARY
The present monograph research is devoted to the study of an ethnocultural
history of Kuznetsk basin, northern periphery of Sajano-Altai during the early
and advanced middle ages. In a basis of work there is a complex of
archaeological sources
ancient settlements, and
a medieval history, ethnography, anthropology and linguistics lays.
The key part of the research is an «archaeological-ethnographical complex»
(AEC) acting as a system-structural category synthesizing the archaeoligical and
ethnographical data. The method of modeling AEC was involved in the work. It
allowed to reveal four AEC, which represent themselves as sources of the
information about
XIV cc. in the territory of Kuznetsk basin.
The cultural-historical characteristics of the revealed AEC is given in the
work. It allowed to give a historical estimation to each of them, and also to
reconstruct an ethnocultural situation, ethnopolitical and elhno-social processes,
and also the economy of a medieval society in Kuznetsk basin.
The first AEC belongs to the buried according to the ceremony of
cremation on the party. It is found out in all the territories of Kuznetsk basin
through out all investigated period (end V-XIV cc). This socio-cultural
complex is interpreted as a large ethnic generality, which is generically
connected with the population, living in same territory in the epoch of bronze
and early iron century. It should be mentioned that exactly during the early
middle ages it is forming as an independent ethnos, which perceives the lands of
Kuznetsk basin as a centre and determines a course of ethnic processes on this
territory. According to the language this people was primary referred to the
group south-samodijsk languages, but during the late middle ages it was
influencred by active turkisation, that originally caused bilingualizm, then the
complete perception of turkish language, as a native one. Indigenous medieval
ethnos is distiguished by the complex social structure and complex
economically-cultural type. Conducting were the appropriating branches of the
economy
breeding, and as an auxiliary branch hoe-mattock agriculture existed. During the
early middle ages this AEC was at first a part of the state
rights member of the confederation of tribes, and then
as kyschtymite. Basing on the complex of the investigated sources this ethnos is
generic-ally connected with modern shors, and the separate ethnic groups came
into an ethnosocial structure of modem bachatskij teleuts.
The second AEC belongs to the buried on ceremony of ingumation, which
existed in a valley of the Kasma a rather short period of time within the limits of

migration upwards the
mouth of the Kasma and soon became completely assimilated in local ethnic
environment. This AEC did not bring any essential changes into the
ethnocultural situation in the territory of Kuznetsk basin.
The third AEC belongs to the buried on the ceremony of ingumation with a
carcass of a horse. It is fixed on steppe sites of landscapes in western and
northwestern parts of Kuznetsk basin in XI-XIV cc. and is divided into two
chronological stages in the development foremongolian and
appearance on the steppe and forest-steppe open spaces within the limits of
Kuznetsk Prisalaire is connected with political events of disintegration kimako-
kypchak confederation of nomadic tribes. Migrants appeared in this region in the
foremongol
ancestors of modern bachatski teleuts. These groups of the population borrowed
a natural-ecological niche, traditional for them, that allowed them keeping the
traditional-household culture and economically-cultural type of nomads cattle-
breeders in a neighbourhood with aborigenos ethnos. According to their
antropological type migrats are metis, combining Central Asiatic Mongolian and
Europeanian feature. Migrats spoke different dialects of turkish language. In the
whole, basing on many parameters this AEC is directly connected with modem
bachatski teleuts, and the separate ethnic groups entering into its social structure
have joined shors ethnos.
The fourth AEC belongs to the buried on the ceremony of a dead body
burnt with a carcass of a horse on a burial place, which is revealed in valleys of
the rivers Ur and Kasma in the western part of Kuznetsk basin and dates back to
XIII-XIV centuries. This welfare complex appeared as a result of the process of
ethnic integration between two other AECs (the first and the third), which lived
on the same territory within the limits of northwestern and western periphery of
Kuznetsk basin. Owing to these ethnos long presence on the territory a new
social unit began forming
their new ethnosocial status resulted the formation of a new welfare complex. I
this AEC complex there are the features of the first and third AECs, but the
features typical for turkospeaking population prevail. Basing on the
ethnographic sources this AEC is close by it s territory and traditional-
household culture to large tribes az-kyshtyms lived in XVH-XIX cc, who were
the ancestors of modern bachatski teleuts.
