Besides the development of concrete strength, chemical shrinkage, temperature, and change of length, the influence of the ratio of reinforcement and geometry were investigated. Based on these tests and a theoretical model, design rules were developed for high-strength concrete. With a beter knowledge of the processes that take place in hardening concrete members, risk of cracking in the early age could be lowered. The application of such a high-strength concrete on large members, for instance, slabs and walls, will provide a higher quality. [Summary, p. 3.]
