Zusammenfassung: | IntroductionThe prevalence of smoking and high-risk behaviors among lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) adults is not well studied.HypothesisWe hypothesized that there are differences in smoking patterns and risky behavior among LGB compared to heterosexuals.MethodsWe utilized cross-sectional data from the 2016 and 2017 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), a nationally representative U.S. telephone-based survey of adults 18 years or older. All variables were self-reported. LGB was defined as lesbian, gay, or bisexual. Smoking patterns included cigarette, smokeless tobacco, e-cigarette, and marijuana use. High-risk behaviors included a composite of drug use, history of sexually transmitted disease, or exchange of money or drugs for sex. We used weighted multivariable-adjusted logistic regression models to examine the association between LGB and these behaviors controlling for demographics and social factors.ResultsAmong 395,991 participants, 3.3% (n=13,236) reported being LGB, of whom 53% were |
